which come closest to my definition of friends:

Normally I would only include 'good' friends in this list, but usually you only can tell the difference between good and bad friends when you've got a hard time....
So i included all persons which I think could be 'good' friends...

So here they are:

Everyday friends:

• cecile (soft and geeky)
• Pnose (rough edges, overall good quality)
• Nick (Has done the things I haven't yet thought of)
• HansM (Mr sendmail, Mr. I-had-another-break-in, Mr. Hmm-this-is-an-interesting-problem and Mr. nph-gate)

General purpose friends:

• mel (Why did she move away and marry someone? %-)
• KrUeMeL (do not underestimate her skills)
• dyfa (One of the few competent web-authors)
• Basti (Mr. blue eyes)
• usa (Nice, yet complicated)
• flori (Always energetic)
• Chris/master (Everybody needs someone like him if you study)
• KarlE (Always there to help. Especially in hardware or tax things (what an odd combination))
• rotfl (Who regretted his choice of nickname already)
• mh (A bit chaotic, but good to see him back.)

Personality friends:

• axel_f (Never expected him to grow old and get kids)
• Eumel ( * )
